What is the difference between CMMI v2.0 and CMMI v3.0?
The most significant change from CMMI v2.0 to CMMI v3.0 is the enhanced focus on modern business practices and terminology consistency. CMMI v3.0 introduces new practice areas such as Managing Data, Data Management, Data Quality, and Workforce Empowerment to align with current business needs. It maintains a consistent terminology across versions to facilitate easier transitions for organizations familiar with previous models. This version also emphasizes adaptability in virtual and agile environments by updating the relevant practice areas and refining existing content for clarity and usability. If your organization is targeting a specific maturity level under CMMI v3.0, you need to adapt to these updated practice areas and demonstrate effective management and utilization of processes consistent with these new emphases.
What is the difference between CMMI v1.3 and CMMI v2.0?
The most important difference between CMMI v1.3 and CMMI v2.0 is that v2.0 focuses fully on performance from day one. CMMI v2.0 prepares the companies to high maturity from the very beginning. That means companies are expected to collect performance measures in Level 2 practices as well. Now, in v 2.0, all practice areas have certain expectations even in Level 2. If your organisation wants to achieve Maturity Level 3, you need to show performance of activities in a repeatable manner consistent with organizational framework.

What is new in V3.0?
How can I upgrade my V1.3 version to V2.0?
This is easy: You can upgrade to CMMI V2.o, if you’ve already attended successfully the Introduction to CMMI V1.3 training prior. In only one day you can get the Upgrade Training, where you will be %100 familiar with CMMI V2.0.

How can I upgrade my V2.2 version to V3.0?
This is easy:
CMMI V2.2 will be phased out by June 2024. Starting from January 1, 2024, only CMMI V3.0 appraisals will be accepted. While the changes in version 3.0 may not be significant enough to warrant a major shift for most organizations pursuing a V2.2 appraisal, especially those focused on CMMI for Development or Services, it’s essential to note that if you currently have a CMMI v2.2, upgrading to CMMI v3.0 is necessary.
